Your Fear is Lying to You

There was a time when fear ran my life.

Not the kind of fear that keeps you safe—but the kind that keeps you small.
The fear of failure.
The fear of looking stupid.
The fear of not being enough.

I would get an opportunity, a chance to do something I had dreamed about… and then the fear would creep in:
"What if I mess up?"
"What if I’m not good enough?"
"What if everyone sees right through me?"

So, I did what fear told me to do.
I backed out. I played it safe. I stayed quiet when I should have spoken up.

And for a while, it felt comfortable.
Until I realized…

Fear was lying to me.

Fear told me I wasn’t ready.
Fear told me I wasn’t capable.
Fear told me to wait until I had everything figured out.

But none of that was true.

Because the truth is, you don’t build confidence by waiting until you’re fearless. You build confidence by moving forward while fear is screaming in your face.

And that’s what changed everything for me.
I stopped letting fear make my choices.
I started doing the thing even when I was scared.
I took the chance, spoke up, showed up—even when my hands were shaking.

And guess what? Nothing bad happened.
I didn’t fall apart. I didn’t fail.
Instead, I proved to myself that I was capable all along.

So today, I want you to ask yourself: Where is fear holding you back?
And what would happen if you did it anyway?

Hit reply and tell me—what’s one thing fear has been keeping you from doing?

Here’s to taking the next step,
Joanna
